Sometimes we just need to remember what The Rules of Life really are:
You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Great post. I'd like to apply those rules for tools to noise:
If it squeaks, use the WD-40.
If it speaks, use the duct tape.
Duct tape is like The Force:
It has a light side, and a dark side,
and it binds the universe together.
in my old biz... (truck driving) we called duct tape the 100 miler stuff, meanin you could tape 2 semis together and tow at 100 per. (course, on the ranch ya need the third essential" baling wire)
